ANSYS Maxwell 3D coil magnetic field simulation analysis
Previously, we introduced the Maxwell software to establish 2D coil magnetic field simulation. Sometimes, 3D coils cannot be simplified to 2D. In this case, it is necessary to establish a complete 3D coil model. The basic analysis is similar to the 2D coil magnetic field simulation. The main difference is that you need to segment the current-carrying cross section yourself. The following is a detailed introduction.
1. Geometric model establishment
The coil geometry model shown in the figure below can be established by using 3D modeling software and then imported into Maxwell, or it can be established directly in Maxwell software. Since the model is relatively simple, this article directly establishes the geometry model in Maxwell software. As shown in the figure below, the outer diameter of the coil is 40mm, the inner diameter is 32mm, and the height is 30mm.

3. Cut out the current-carrying cross section
Split the coil along the YZ plane
Separate the cut sections
After separation, delete one of them and keep one section.
4. Set up current excitation and boundary conditions
Select the cross section to set the current excitation, the current size is 1A (ampere-turns), and the type is selected as Stranded. The current-carrying conductor is divided into winding and solid. Select winding here.

5. Solve the problem and use the default configuration
